About the author

Hi. I’m Caryl Dierksen.

Since October 2010, I have been the very happy owner of an Epcon home. My Abbey is located in Maples at the Sonatas, a Wilcox Communities development in Woodstock, Ill.

I retired from my career as a high school English teacher 17 years ago. Then six years later, I retired from my retirement job as a feature writer for our local newspaper.

In one momentous, dream-fulfilling summer, I published my first novel and bought my dream home, aka my Abbey.

I’m in my fourth year of blogging, still enjoying the learning process, and still eager to share my experiences in my  home and community.

I’m 72, live alone except for my cats Angie and Shadow, and love anything to do with reading and writing. So that’s who I am.

If you’re interested in the personal point of view of a Wilcox/ Epcon owner, please stay right here. Ring my doorbell and come in.

I’m glad you stopped by.

If you’d like to contact me with questions or suggestions, or just send me a note, email me at caryldierksen@gmail.com.

Hi Angie! Our mutual friend, Marcia, sent me the link to your blog. Awesome! I have glanced over it and can’t wait till I have more time to do a good ‘visit!’ I am so happy to meet you – and discovered that we both are animal lovers. That puts you right at the top of my ‘nice people’ list and look forward to getting to know you much better. Keep on writing – everyone has a story but many go untold.

    • Hi Arlene! It’s always nice to meet a fellow blogger. I’m looking forward to checking out your blog too. I’m sure we have several things in common in addition to loving animals and having Marcia as a friend. One little thing— my name is Caryl. Angie was a much loved cat whose name often appears in my posts.

Oh my BIG mistake. I am so sorry, Caryl. It’s wonderful to reach across the miles, especially across 2 countries. Thank you for reading and reaching. I felt your hug! Happy blogging, my new friend.
