I can’t remember the last time I saw a hot air balloon from my home. They are a rare, but beautifully welcome, sight around here.
Sadly, I didn’t see the one that flew over late Sunday afternoon. The best I can remember, I was home at the time, so I’m not sure why I missed it. But my neighbors, Diana and Bill, were enjoying the early November warmth in their screened-in porch and noticed the balloon. Diana grabbed her phone and got some pictures as it skimmed the rooftops here at the Maples.
With a little online research, I learned that the balloon is based in Cary and is owned and flown by Corporate Balloons & Promotions, Ltd. On Sunday, it had left from Marengo, due to the wind direction.
If you ever have the opportunity to take a flight, perhaps the winds will be favorable for a trip to Woodstock. Be sure to wave at us as you glide over.
